Born in Dunedin. Primary schooling at Musselburgh, Dunedin, and Middle School in Invercargill. Intermediate school at Tweedsmuir Intermediate, Invercargill and Avondale Intermediate School (1946-1947). Avondale College (1948 - 1952.)

Bachelor of Science, University of Auckland, 1957.
Diploma in Teaching, 1966
Master of Philosophy (Second Classs Honours), University of Auckland, 1984.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Penrose High School, 1958 - August 1961. Teacher of Senior Physics.
Ballarat School of Mines and Industries, August 1961 - March 1964.
Lecturer in Physics, Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
Auckland Technical Institute, (Institute of Technology) April 1964 - December 1993.
Lecturer in Electronics. (1964 - 1966)
